“Change is frightening, and to many people who would be leaders, it seems more of a threat than a promise. That’s too bad, because the future belongs to our leaders, regardless of where they work or what they do”
Seth Godin (Tribes)
This idea is born out of a post by Sir Richard Branson this morning. His question was…
Have entrepreneurs lost the will to innovate?
You can read the whole article here => http://virg.in/wygYV #VirginDisruptors
So to fix a problem I believe you need to start a movement. And the good news is it can be done in under three minutes.
According to this article, there are a huge number of university graduates in Australia, that have a qualification and can’t get a job.
Have a read of this article here=> http://bit.ly/JobProblem
So why do I want to fix this problem?
Well there isn’t a breathing politician with the fucking brains to sort this out (if there was the problem wouldn’t exist) so I am going to do something about it.
The first step…
Is to identify the person that this problem affects. Then plant a seed in their mind of a possible solution. Then you leave them to decide if the solution is applicable to their predicament.
This is just me, but I don’t believe that you can personally motivate some else to do something. Motivation has to come from within, it’s a conscious decision.
The Second Step…
Is to meet them where they are at. This gem of an idea came from Matt a Sunshine Coast Business Coach. This is the actual conversation from my Facebook Business Page.
“#Budgetreply Wow factor, buying cars to rent to people, and buying CD’s from Kmart, were innovative ideas that we heard at the Biz Revival last week.
So what innovative idea can we put into action right here on the Sunshine Coast, TODAY, that will benefit the community?
Help me out here…”
Matt’s reply was…
“Piggy back off the big pineapple festival?”
Genius idea Matt. So the Big Pineapple Festival it is. I will target Uni Student that are going to it this weekend, via Facebook.
The Third Step…
Getting them to take action. Yesterday I was in a second hand book shop. For some reason I picked up a book called, “Women Who Win”.
I don’t know why I bought it (I do now), I just did.
Off track but very important point. Your subconscious picks up on opportunities that your conscious mind doesn’t. Don’t question it when it does, just go with it.
So here is how I get the ladies that need help to take action. I run a Facebook Competition giving the book away. My post will be something like…
“Got a Uni Degree but can’t get a job? Got a great business idea but you don’t know how to get started? Don’t let that hold you back from doing great things.
You can win a copy of the book, Women Who Win, by simply joining in this competition.
What have you got to lose? So get moving towards making your business happen right now”
With my promoted post I will target likers of the wait for it…
Big Pineapple Music Festival on Facebook
I know I am a fucking genius! That is just the beer talking BTW!
The prizes will be the book. Why the book? Because it’s specific to…
Women that want to make a difference. I like working with anyone willing to get off of their arse and have a crack. No Pun Intended!
The end goal
Get one person to take the book, read it and take some action towards their dream, goal whatever you want to call it.
But I am not stopping there. I am going to do something different every Friday hopefully with your help.
So if that is a movement that you would like to be involved with, head across to the Sunshine Coast Social Media Facebook Page, hit the like button and leave a comment with the #MovementDay and we will…
Nearly forgot, the # for this #MovementDay. Because it has construction connotations that I will explain next week.
